Feeling Blergh.....

Dear Blog - Please accept my apologies for the tardiness of my attention to you. It's been 11 days since my last post....and for that I am truly sorry!

Yes well - as the title says....I am feeling blergh today....sorry to be a downer, but the old homesickness bug kicked in on the weekend again. I think that it will take some time for me to become accustomed to being away from my family during special times etc. It's funny, I spent every year whinging and moaning about having to do the run-around on mother's day (i.e. my mum and the mother-in-law on the one day) and I found it quite amazing that I missed it. LOL!

Anyway, enough of my missing-home-issues.....what have I been doing since my last post??

Well - the new 'term' for Amelie's classes is officially underway now so we are ultra-busy. Monday is Playcentre day. Tuesday is Mother's group or bludge day....depending... Wednesday is Gymbaroo day. Thursday is Music day. Friday is a free day (thank f*ck).

I am realising that I am perhaps a little over-scheduled!! We will be definitely cutting back next term.

I have only started Playcentre this term and it seems really great so far. The premise is that it is all parent-run and receives a little funding from the government, and on the day(s) you choose to attend, you help to set up, run it and clean up. (basically like a day care setup, but you stay there and do stuff with your kiddy). I have gone for 2 weeks now and whilst I love all the fantastic child-learning aspects of it....there are of course the usual inter-parental-issues. That is, bitching mothers, differing socio-economic backgrounds and lazy parents!! (to name a few!) However, I have decided to embrace this challenge rather than bin the activity as I would have in the past. Amelie enjoys going to playcentre WAY too much for me to pull her out of it. So I am sure that you will get to hear some fascinating stories as the term proceeds. For instance, today, 2 women stood in the kitchen and dissed another woman (behind her back) for 10 minutes for bringing milk in a convenience bottle that she'd bought from the supermarket, rather than pouring small amount of milk into a container and bringing it......can you feel my eyes rolling back into my head??? Deep breath Rach....Deep Breath......

On a postive note...we have been spending a fair bit of time with the neighbour and her children, Amelie goes absolutely nuts when she sees Dom and then proceeds to stand right in his face and smile at him....too cute. We even did the old babysit for her the other day so that she could go to the shop! This will work out fantastically for us also, as we have no family here to look after Amelie and I'm a bit funny about leaving her with just anyone!

Apart from all these activities, I have become quite addicted to cooking and baking.....sad, sad stay-at-home mum! Here is a list of what I've baked in the last 11 days, muffins, corn bread, coconut biscuits, oat biscuits, carrot and date wholemeal rockcakes.....as well as cooking with my crockpot every second day! The funniest part about all this cooking that I have been doing.....is that I have not tasted one bite of any of it!!!! LOL!!

Ok - time for me to go and do some things whilst the little girl is asleep!!

Hope all is well with everyone else!

xx
