What kind of fuckery is this?

Right then, I am going to attempt to be ultra-vigilant with this blogging-thing!! (let's see how long I last! LOL)

The title encapsulates quite a bit for me at the moment....the first being that, yes, I have become a fan of the ole Amy Winehouse (her music, NOT her habits)....and secondly I thought I would be all cultured and stuff and take Amelie to the Art Gallery yesterday.

Now I should be clear about something, I do NOT consider myself to be an 'ocker' or a redneck or without taste....but I will say that my overall impression of the art world is not too fantastic. Here is an example http://www.christchurchartgallery.org.nz/Exhibitions/2008/JohnReynolds/...

I mean, FFS, what is with this guy's work....you walk around looking at bloody overhead projectors shining hand drawn grid lines onto a wall....what a complete wank! Since when did infantile handwriting and contrived ideas become art??

Maybe I should be more open-minded and realise that, yes, art is subjective not objective blah blah blah.....but really, if I'd known that an overhead projector and a marker was all I needed to make some serious cash, then I would have changed my vocation years ago!

Anyway - regardless of my terrible artistic taste, we still had a great afternoon yesterday, wandering around the city and catching the tram. Amelie particularly likes menacing people whilst she has their full attention on the tram!

We had our last music class for the term today also, and I will say that I really enjoy this class with Amelie. Particularly because I can see how much she enjoys it, as well as how much she learns. I'm generally not one for promoting products etc but I think a lot of the way this programme is run and how it has been developed so here is a link if you are interested http://www.musictogetherofchristchurch.com/.

Time to go and do some ironing.....grrrrrrrr dreary housework!

Got to agree with you wholeheartedly about the art. I can't stand "art" like that. Give me a painting on a wall or a sculpture that's not made out of old drinking straws and human poo anyday.
